From Outdated to Outstanding: Bure Park Primary School
The Disconnect
Meet Bure Park Primary School - a thriving and community-focused school committed to delivering the best for its pupils and staff. The school had been operating on an outdated Panasonic phone system that was rapidly approaching end-of-life. With Panasonic leaving the telecommunications market and maintenance costs continuing to rise, the school knew it was time to make a change. They needed a modern, reliable solution that would future-proof their communications and provide flexibility for years to come.
The Answer
After exploring their options, the school chose to upgrade to Xelion, Connaught’s leading cloud-based phone system. The school was impressed by Xelion’s advanced capabilities, cost-effectiveness, and ease of management.
With cabling infrastructure and leased line already in place, the installation process was simple and efficient. The new system was configured for 25 users, including 4 reception handsets, 15 classroom handsets, and 5 cordless handsets. The setup also featured integration with Arbor, the school’s MIS system, using three dedicated Arbor integration licences for the admin team.
Connaught carried out the full installation during the school holidays to avoid disruption. The team then returned for an inset day to deliver staff training, ensuring everyone felt confident using the new system from day one.
The Results; Loud and Clear
Bure Park’s new Xelion system delivered a range of powerful features including an absence line, call recording for safeguarding, voicemail-to-email, and mobile apps and softphones to support remote working. The school also benefited from flexible call management, allowing calls to be automatically redirected to the breakfast and after-school club, ensuring parents could always reach the right team.
The new Xelion system has provided the school with a future-proofed, easy to manage communications platform - one that supports both day-to-day operations and the school’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
