Improving Communication and Safeguarding at Our Lady & All Saints MAC

The Disconnect
Meet Frances from Our Lady & All Saints MAC. A multi-academy company based in Solihull who strive for excellence in a safe environment for their pupils. The Trust faced communication challenges due to each school using different, outdated phone systems. They sought a cost-effective, centralised communication system to enhance internal communications between teams and externally with parents.
The Answer
Connaught were successfully appointed as their telephone contractor for the Trust, working on a roll out for 12 of the schools. The first step in this process was conducting an in-depth site survey, where we worked closely with each school to understand their unique needs and challenges.
We developed a tailored rollout plan with the central team and addressed any cabling improvements where necessary. Once the infrastructure was in place, we installed our Xelion cloud-based phone system at each site for seamless communication. New handsets were provided for every school, ensuring that staff had reliable devices to use for day-to-day communication, as well as for emergency and safeguarding purposes.
The Results; Loud and Clear
The transition to Xelion quickly delivered significant improvements across the Trust. The teams have now fully embraced the use of the Xelion softphone and mobile app, enabling senior staff to take calls on the move and central teams to address queries regardless of their location. The implementation of Xelion also provided the Trust with a fixed, transparent pricing model. The all-inclusive licence meant that there were no hidden costs, allowing the Trust to easily scale as needed.
Call recording feature for safeguarding means that they can see how their teams are effectively managing their busy phone lines and supervise their pupil absence lines. Frances and her team are confident that the Xelion system will continue to support the Trust’s needs as it grows, helping them maintain a safe and supportive environment for their pupils.
